  • Remotely controlling light, shade, style and mood

Posted on 7th June 2017 by admin.

April and May have seen a typically English spring gearing up for, hopefully, a summer that will be warm and bright. Heavy showers, punctuated by spells of mediterranean-beating heat and sun have cast doleful shadows and bleaching, bright light in almost equal measures.

With such extremes, it can be hard to control the desired look and feel of any living space, no matter how creatively you have considered colour, finishes, flooring or lighting.

So, how can you ensure that you make the most of the available light when the weather is cloudy but still have the ability to control intense sunlight when the pressure rises and the sun makes an appearance?

Controliss battery powered and mains powered electric blinds allow instant control at the touch of a button, whatever the weather and however often it changes.

Whether you prefer the sumptuous, smooth or textured fabrics of Roman Blinds; the elegant sophistication of vertical blinds; the practical versatility of roller blinds; the contemporary minimalism of venetian blinds; or the natural or painted finishes of beautifully crafted wooden blinds, one touch wireless remote control is available across our extensive range and the inbuilt safety of cordless technology adds a reassuring piece of mind.

Rooms with multiple perspectives and windows are easily managed with simple remote controls that allow you to control single blinds, groups of blinds or timed automation.

Light is the biggest influencer of character for any given room and having control over its intensity allows you to define the personality of your living spaces.

Controliss battery powered and mains powered electric blinds are your perfect partner, allowing you to create the most comfortable environment for living or presenting the most inviting and welcoming home for entertaining.

The recent CES Technology Show in Las Vegas was THE place to see and learn of, the very latest trends in all things 'tech'.

The 2017 presentations didn’t disappoint; from self-balancing Honda motorcycles, through the latest TV and computer developments, to Lynx - the humanoid robot powered by Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistant.

We’ve been told for years now, that ‘this will be the year of the automation of things’ and from the CES highlights that have made the news, 2017 certainly looks to be the year home automation gains credible traction.

Whether you yearn for connected fridges, microwaves, vacuums, or robotic personal assistants that will fill your fridge, cook your food and keep the home clean, it now seems no longer the stuff of science fiction - the future is here, now.

But if an addition to the family in the shape of a robot is one huge step too far and you’d prefer to remain very much in control, yourself, the home automation systems that Controliss battery powered and mains powered electric blinds can be integrated into, may be the perfect solution for you.

Powered by technology from market leaders Somfy, all Controliss electric blinds are compatible with the systems that are leading this revolution in home automation.

  • Stay in control this Christmas

Posted on 14th December 2016 by Michelle.

When we think of Christmas, the list of things to prepare for seems longer every year. There are so many tasks that need careful planning and control at the start of the festive season.

Keeping control of Christmas can be a battle for us all. Shuffling the diary with visits from family and friends, controlling the spending on gifts and even maintaining perfect control of the oven to get the turkey just right.

One thing we can’t control of course is the weather. We all dream of a beautiful white vista when we first take a look out of the window on Christmas day, but in recent years, the majority of us have not been so lucky.

Whatever the weather does this Christmas, with a Controliss automated blind, the grey gloom can be easily shut away at the touch of a button, or, fingers crossed a sparkling white snowscape will be revealed when your remote control blinds are raised to see the world on the 25th.

Here’s hoping the ‘up’ button presents a stunning start to a wonderful Christmas in your home this year and everything else is kept well under control…

    Enblink

  • A phone that answers the door for you

Posted on 18th June 2013 by Andy.

    Siedle-Scope

What at first glance looks like a very smart cordless telephone is actually hiding a few neat tricks up its sleeve, as the Siedle Scope can also control a lot of your home technology.

While it connects to your landline and works just like a regular phone, including caller identification, its other main strength is security. The full-colour screen on the handset can be used to access and control remote security cameras located about your property. So if you hear the doorbell you can look to see who it is and even open the door for them, all via the handset. It will even let you control your electric blinds, lights and garage door.

The Scope is from German design firm Siedle, specialists in home technology with products ranging from intercoms to thumb-print scanners. Prices for the Siedle Scope start at £600.

  • Take Control of Your Curtains

Posted on 7th February 2013 by Jules.

    Electric-Curtain-Tracks

Whether it be luxury homes, quality hotels or dynamic conference venues, motorised curtains are becoming a standard requisite in this type of high-end project. Our exquisitely designed remote control tracks are extremely robust, yet discrete and can even be concealed within a ceiling recess.  Nothing creates greater visual impact than beautifully crafted curtains moving virtually silently, across a span of up to 10 metres, at the touch of a single button! The sophistication of Controliss electric curtain tracks is reflected in the simple form and sleek lines of the powerful motor and rail.  The motor is covered neatly, housing an integrated power supply; having the capability to offer a large range of control options, with adjustable limits to allow the curtains to fall naturally. Just like our electric blinds ranges, the curtain tracks are operable either individually or as groups of tracks, just by varying the choice of remote control handset. Installation is a simple operation with a basic electrical connection; ensuring the experience of an electric curtain track and all the associated benefits, could not be easier. These electric curtain tracks are so versatile, they incorporate Touch Motion functionality, to open and close the curtain by lightly pulling on the fabric, without the use of a remote control.  The motor drive shaft disengages automatically to permit use of the Touch Motion function.  The curtain tracks can also be personalised; to stop at preferred levels of opening, even the speed of operation is adjustable, with all tracks having soft start and stop as a standard feature. We can not only guarantee our tacks with a warranty for 5 years, but more importantly, we guarantee that any visitors will not fail to be impressed by the power of motion; so for any projects scheduled for 2013, where that ever important 'wow' factor is vital, then the simple solution is a Controliss electric curtain track!

  • Automatic Blinds, Whatever The Weather

Posted on 6th June 2012 by Chris.

Controliss automatic window blinds can help you to get the most out of the weather while you are at home or away. When it is a beautiful day and you want to be energised by it's glorious ambience from the comfort of your lounge, you can open all of your blinds simultaneously with one touch of a button. Or if you are irritated by the glaring sun or want to cover the dreary sight of utterly grey skies, you can operate the blinds, together or individually, to cover the windows you want to cover, as much as you want them covering. Many other products can help you harness the diverse climates that your home may be subject to throughout the summer and make good use of the varying conditions. One device in particular, the Hydreon RG-11 Rain Gauge, is a maintenance-free rain sensor that could be used to send a signal to an automatic control system to close any skylights on the home as soon as it starts to rain. Because it is optical, it is more sensitive and reliable than other rain sensors. Therefore, it can be set up for other uses, including switching off a garden irrigation system to save water, frost sensing in a refrigerator or for collection of meteorological data. Another great weather-based sensing device is the Controliss Sunis Indoor WireFree RTS blinds sensor. This Somfy indoor sun sensor will communicate with Controliss battery powered and electric blinds, such as a roller blind or wood blind and would control the blind automatically upon sensing the sunlight. The huge advantage of this is that it reduces the necessity for an air conditioning system to be switched on. On the hot days of summer, the blind can be rolled down automatically to block the sun's heat, and in the winter, a roller blind can open up to let the sun warm the house through the windows or doors. These superb wireless window blind sensors can be turned off at any time and the sensitivity of it's sunlight detection can be adjusted using an internal dial. Since the British weather, especially, can often only be relied upon to be unreliable, it can very much be beneficial to get the systems in place that will help you to utilise each situation and deduct from some of the disappointment that the weather can provide.

  • Introducing Somfy Sensitive Controls

Posted on 20th March 2012 by Jules.

As an Interior Designer, I am rarely attracted to gadgetry as aesthetics are generally compromised by technical hardware. However, I have recently discovered the exception to the rule! Having deliberated over the choice of fabric or finish for your Controliss remote control blinds it is essential to incorporate a simple yet stylish means of blind operation. Controliss Blinds have launched  the new Somfy 'Smoove' touch sensitive wireless wall control.  If that sounds technical already, let me explain exactly why this little gem appeals to me. Firstly, there are no unsightly wires or cables to try and conceal and no disruption to decor. Quite simply screw the mounting plate to the wall and click the module and decorative face plate in to place, even I could do it! With the installation easily resolved, we can explore the plethora of finish combinations available to co-ordinate with your decorative interior scheme.

The central control module (or brains as far as we, the non technical are concerned) is available in white, silver, black or red.  This decided, there is a choice of 8 different frame options, from a stylish matt silver to a sophisticated walnut gloss surround.  Why not choose several options and change them periodically to give a whole new look? Having satisfied my design criteria, lets address the functionality.  The device is discretely proportioned at just 80mm x 80mm x 10mm, smaller than a standard light switch and beautifully finished. The central control module (brains) consists of a touch sensitive panel, up, down and a MY (personal setting) clearly visible. The module emits an audible beep signal whenever a movement or operation is selected, together with an Integrated LED acting as feedback to confirm detection of a touch command. Smoove Touch Sensitive Wall Control is an innovative wireless RTS switch to control 1 blind, or a group of blinds simultaneously, with a range of up to 20 metres through 2 concrete walls, so no line of sight is required to command your window blinds. The module is also available with open/close icons in place of the up/down arrows for use in conjunction with our electric curtain tracks. Smoove has a pure, simple, timeless appearance that fits into any interior scheme. If you think this desirable, innovative product sounds expensive, you would be wrong!  Available from the Controliss online Somfy shop from just £38.24 for the module and £8.96 for the frame, the designer look of Smoove touch sensitive wireless wall controls are accessible to all!

  • Pause for Thought!

Posted on 9th January 2012 by Jules.

Once all the frivolity of the festive season has died down, if you are anything like me, you will be sitting there thinking of all the New Years resolutions you will be making, and most likely breaking! If you have a busy life, as most of us do these days, then generally Christmas time is the only time of year we may be at home, allegedly relaxing!  Historically, it as this point we start to make plans for the year ahead, whether it is holidays or home improvements. If you have a home improvement project planned for 2012, then it is never too early to start contemplating the types of furniture and finishes you intend to incorporate.  As an Interior Designer, I see the same mistakes made time and time again, where Clients have not planned early enough in advance. When designing a lighting scheme, it is vital that you know what you will be lighting and where it will be positioned.  For instance, in a Dining Room, usually one would position the decorative and task lighting directly over the dining table, then the decorative and mood lighting positioned accordingly.  If little thought goes in to this aspect early on, the electrician will automatically position the lighting cable at first fix stage, in the centre of the ceiling.  The table may not require a central position once the storage and other furniture are included, so floor layouts play a huge part in design, even at first fix electrical stage. We encounter this kind of oversight on a daily basis at Controliss blinds.  Our 240v remote control blinds require a switched fuse spur to be installed remotely, from the window.  The feed from the spur then runs up to the top of the window reveal, for connection to the roller blind motor on installation.  The introduction of this fuse spur and feed should be done pre-plaster stage to avoid consequential damage by having to install retrospectively. If you have the facility within your project, it is well worth considering how you can conceal the roller tube and brackets.  Many of our customers, particularly Architects and Designers will make provision to recess the blind tubes within the ceiling recess, or within a stud wall cavity. If you are fitting our 240V electric blinds at a later stage in your project, we are able to offer a very stylish concealed headrail system, called a Contour Cassette system.  This system houses the roller blind, and conceals the fixings within, so the result is streamlined and sophisticated, the epitome of design finesse! Our customer service team are always available to offer advice on fabric choices and methods of integration. So if you are currently sitting back, full to the brim with turkey, contemplating your interior projects for 2012, spare a thought for not simply what you wish to achieve, but how!

Posted on 4th December 2011 by Jules.

Controliss Blinds showcase Lutron's award winning and imaginative Kirbé® Vertical Drapery System that represents an exciting and unique industry first. This entirely new design of Lutron blinds smoothly raises and lowers the curtain fabric up and completely out of the way at the touch of a button. The Kirbé vertical curtain system is a captivating fusion of vertical motion with Lutron's beautifully engineered quiet drive motorisation technology and traditional soft curtain fabrics. Lutron Kirbé eliminates “stack back” – the mass of fabric remaining when a traditional curtains are opened. Curtain fabric stack back can equate to one-third the total width of traditional curtains which in many scenarios can block a large portion of the overall window aperture. Utilising the unique Kirbé system increases the number of applications where you can use curtain fabrics, including restrictive spaces, French, Bi-fold or sliding doors and floor-to-ceiling windows by recessing the system into a recessed pocket for totally unobstructed access and views. The Kirbé vertical drapery system features a number of Lutron innovations that enable automated control of rolling soft furnishing curtain fabric in a window blind possible.
